  • Month 1: Research and discovery, website audit, keyword strategy, and planning. If you get through this in the first month, you’re doing great, but it’s not uncommon for the research and discovery phase to spill into the second month.
  • Month 2: Technical SEO work, working on your website’s speed, mobile optimization, etc. Begin working on content creation and optimization.
  • Month 3: Focus on content creation—blog posts, FAQs, whitepapers, articles, etc. You may start seeing some improvements in rankings, but it’s unlikely you’ll see any serious traffic just yet.
  • Month 4: Continued content creation, technical optimization of the website, and development of a healthy link profile. You could see an increase in traffic here, and maybe even some leads, depending on the market.
  • Month 5: By this point, you should start seeing an impact on your traffic from your SEO efforts. Now is the time to assess what’s working and what’s not, and refine your SEO strategy accordingly.
  • Month 6 and beyond: If all has gone well, your website traffic, rankings, and leads should be increasing. From here, your focus should be on maintaining your SEO efforts and continuing to expand your content and link profile.
